This is not normally my thing, but the subject of the end of the world, or Armageddon, has been coming up more for me lately than at any other time in my life. Once again, I am unique, but not special so I assume it is coming up more for you as well. If not, then don’t worry I am a moron sometimes too!
People have been saying the world is ending my whole life, the story of the end of the world comes up in a lot of our mythology and literature. Being on the end cusp of a millennial, 2000 was always the big date brought up in my childhood. Y2K came and went with a whimper, then 9/11 happened and we were ready for it all over again. But we continue! Financial crisis in 2008 felt like the beginning of a great depression, but yet we continue…
Covid-19 hit and it seemed like any other disaster as it unfolded, but looking back something changed! I thought I was the only one getting jaded and cynical. We have been out of quarantine for almost half a decade, but the damage was done. Children had their growth stunted by the isolation, and parents were so stressed during the crisis they didn’t interact with their kids. They left them alone with their phones to figure out life on their own. They knew the adults were not around to help. Learned helplessness is a tragedy to befall any living creature.
That brings us to my message today:
If the apocalypse is happening, first BE CALM! It helps if I scream it at you. Secondly, as much as it pains me to say this, it makes no difference if there is an afterlife or not in terms of: “You have to live your life!”
Just know this, and you probably already do if you listen to your heart. In the end the love you take will be equal to the love you make! Build things do not destroy! Put positive loving energy out into the universe and even if you don’t accomplish anything you want to, you will have accomplished something bigger! Meaning, purpose, connection: you get these things by working with people and not against them, especially during times that feel like Armageddon.
There does exist in this Universe an energy that flows through that binds and connects us somehow. Otherwise, instinct and intuition would be statistically unproveable. That is as far of an understanding as I know, from there I have faith. For me personally I have decided the existence of God will not change how I live my life. I find comfort in doing “good” and “right” as I understand them. Even my biggest failures I can swallow knowing I did what I thought was right. If I do wrong, and know it, that eats at my soul. That is how I interpret those feelings.
