Rain and Rainbows

Rain and Rainbows

Everyone except the Phelps’ loves a rainbow. It is presented in Christian ethos as God’s sign of peace presented at the end of the biblical flood of Noah. It has also been used by many other groups over the years as a symbol of miracles, luck, and magic. Including the more modern use by the LGBTQ+ community to represent inclusiveness.

I will opine a bit on inclusivity, becoming a four-letter word in today’s society. A distinction I think is misguided and harmful. My naive view of the world held that we as a society had finally figured out that we accomplish great things when opportunity is provided to as many people as possible. As opposed to being controlled by the few, or the one. If you read dystopian AI works, they usually start with the computers working together, not independently. I fear our modern political environment is going to silence the small bits of communication we have left. Pushing us to work and live more and more in our own world with less and less interaction with others. I fear this will be our great filter, our own cause of a Fermi Paradox event that stops our evolution and possible our existence.

If the only voices, we hear are the ones we choose to reassure us and the few people in our daily lives can only parrot what we already know or risk pissing us off and eventual alienation, HOW WILL WE LEARN? What art will a society produce when the line between pleasure and pain has shrunk to the smallest size possible. I think if we could make paradise for ourselves, we still wouldn’t be happy with it. Instead, we would find new enemies, new adversaries, out of our friends and family. Instead, we must learn to live with discomfort and to use it! Being bored is not an affront to you, it is a challenge from your brain to your body to learn something! Life is so much more fun when you are an active participant. If you are a passive participant in life, you will soon know how a vegetable feels. Put your phone down, step away from the screen, live life with real people!

You don’t know what you don’t know, and you never will unless you get out there and learn. Especially from other people! Do the groundwork, don’t wait to be spoon fed!

As always, thank you for riding with me!
