I have ADD, that is not an abbreviation but an acronym. I am constantly at odds with my mind and body. Completing a simple task often can be like moving a full aquarium. The water jostles easily and every movement seems to amplify the opposite impulse I wish to amplify.
If you move an aquarium full of water, you will need to rest periodically until the water settles down. If you move early, sloshing it around again, you will wear the water. It’s about keeping things interesting and fresh.
Now a normal person might say: “Just drain the water so it doesn’t slow you down!”
If you find yourself thinking that then you can just fuck right off! I wanted my aquarium with the same water intact. Go point out your plot holes on Reddit!
Anyway, so what to do? I try to keep two things going at once so I can switch back and forth between tasks. Neither of the two things can be to completely tune out because that option would win every time. Instead, I will pick two related but separate tasks, preferably ones with the same goal. This keeps things fresh and interesting, which is essential for my enjoyment of life. Variety is the spice of life: keeping things fresh and interesting is necessary for my well-being. Boredom is a horrible luxury that rarely leads to productive positive developments.
Variety is the spice of life, use it liberally to keep things fresh. No one wants a stale life!
