Continuing with the 4k footage, I spent today taking the longest mile orders that still made sense. To me that meant close to $1 a mile, and nothing too heavy, or too many too heavy items rather. I am generally easy to please as long as it isn’t 4 or more 40 packs of water or more than 10 gallons of water or cat litter or cement/sand/aggregate. This sent me to Boone county twice and ended through the South Hills neighborhood’s of Charleston. Then I took Chas up to see Sunset Drive, and she actually agreed!
All in all it was a win, I told the WalMart loader it was a nice day and I just wanted to listen to music so I took the longest offers. He said some other driver does that, and that is what he would do too. It really felt like I was where I was supposed to be. I had a sense of the energy that connects us to all other things. I didn’t have LSD or shrooms so it was a great feeling.
On the way to Ashford, WV I had a thought. The happiest and most content moment (not prolonged period but the most intense immediate moment akin to an orgasm, sorry for the wording) for me was and is likely to remain the first time I took MDMA. I hate that the chemical state was such that any natural attempt to reach that point again would be futile. If it did happen it would take a profound moment, and that may not do it…
I never could recapture that feeling, and likely never will. However, that is only my memories of pleasure. I very likely remember it better than it was anyway, and that is ok most memories are much more intense than the actual experience at hand. This is how a traumatic experience can feel normal in the moment. It is only after, during reflection, that the true importance and enormity of the event can be truly understood. That, too, is for the best. If you knew you could die you might not have the presence of mind to get through the situation alive.
All of that to say, I am starting to feel a beauty and connection to my surroundings that I have to thank sobriety for. I would have thought this was a stupid belief until I had it. The natural beauty of West Virginia pales in comparison to the beauty Chas brings to me. That is just as well. I was beyond grateful I got to share my favorite Charleston scenic overlook with someone I love!
Thank you for riding with me!
